Suffered a major wardrobe malfunction, ripped seam, or broken zipper on the convention floor? The Sewing Room provides professional, same-day emergency costume and clothing repairs in downtown Indianapolis during Gen Con week (July 30 – August 2, 2026).
Located at 320 N Meridian Street (Suite 109) inside the Chamber of Commerce Building, we are a quick 15-minute walk (0.6 miles) from the Indiana Convention Center. Walk-ins are welcome! Call or text us immediately at (317) 775-2167 so we can prep a machine for your arrival.

Cosplay construction can be incredibly unique, often using uncommon materials and intense structural designs. As a full-service, one-stop shop for the entire family, we don't just follow standard patterns—we use over 25 years of polished tailoring fundamentals to creatively engineer solutions for unusual wardrobe failures.
Armed with heavy-duty industrial sewing machines, we provide the structural muscle that lightweight home machines or safety pins simply cannot handle.
Creative Structural Reinforcement: If a strap snaps, a seam bursts, or armor panels shift, we use master-level techniques to creatively reinforce the area so it holds together for the rest of the convention.
Industrial Machine Stitching: Heavy fabrics, leather, dense uniforms, capes, and layered garments require industrial-grade needles and tension. Our machines can pierce tough materials safely without ruining your hard work.
Emergency Stabilization: Even if we don’t have an exact matching specialized fabric (like a specific shade of latex or 3D-printed mesh) in stock, we can creatively patch, back, or structurally stabilize the garment from the inside so it looks flawless on the show floor.
Hardware & Fastener Fixes: Replacing or rigging broken snaps, heavy-duty hooks, eyes, and loose Velcro tabs to ensure your costume stays securely on your body.

No, Gen Con does not provide a dedicated, fully-equipped professional tailoring or sewing room inside the Indiana Convention Center. For repairs requiring industrial equipment and professional craftsmanship, The Sewing Room is the closest off-site option, located less than a mile away.
Do I need an appointment for an emergency repair during the convention?
No, an appointment is not required. We prioritize urgent convention wardrobe failures on a walk-in basis from Thursday, July 30 through Saturday, August 1. We highly recommend calling us at (317) 775-2167 while you are on your way so we know what materials to prepare.
Can I try on or change into my costume at your shop?
Yes. Avoid trying to fix or change your costume in the crowded, chaotic convention center bathrooms. You can safely try on, adjust, and test your repaired costume inside our professional, private shop space.
How much do emergency convention repairs cost?
Because every costume utilizes different materials (leather, spandex, foam backing, etc.) and has unique construction, we must see the damage in person to provide a fair and accurate price estimate. We keep our emergency pricing transparent and fair to help get you back to the convention floor quickly.
Do you have specialized cosplay materials like colored latex, foam, or unique zippers in stock?
Because cosplay designs vary wildly, we do not stock every specialized material, custom zipper, or exotic fabric color. However, our superpower is creative problem-solving. We use 25+ years of master tailoring fundamentals to patch, secure, and fix garments from the inside out using our industrial machines.
Pro-Tip: If you have leftover fabric scraps, extra matching zippers, or specialized thread from building your costume, please bring them with you to the shop! That gives us the perfect toolkit to engineer an invisible, permanent fix.
